Souda beach is located 41km southwest of Rethymno and shouldn’t be confused with the Souda Bay, which is the natural port of Chania city. Souda is situated at the exit of a small green valleyand is not visited by so many tourists.
The valley is run by the a small river, which has water all year round, called Finikas. Along Finikas there are colonies of the Cretan palm trees of Theophrastus.
A beautiful sandy beach is stretched in the area, completing this magnificent scenery. The road to the beach is paved and the beach is organized. There are umbrellas and showers, while the area has several taverns and rooms. As the beach sides are rocky, they are ideal for fishing and snorkeling. At the east side, above the rocks and on the main road, there are benches overlooking the South Cretan Sea.
