The Cretan Vineyard – A valuable heritage

Let’s remember that the oldest wine-press, more than 3.500 years old, was found in Crete, in Archanes, while the vine has been systematically grown in Crete for more than 4000 years!. The Cretan wine-makers have broadened their knowledge on the new developments and the preferences of the consumers. The specialists, though they use the traditional varieties of grapes in wine-making they also try new varieties, which can satisfy all tastes and demands.

According to mythology, wine was the gift of Dionysos, the god of joy, life and company. Our mythology says that his beloved partner was the daughter of Minos, the mythical king of Crete, Ariadne.

So, the Cretan wines constitutes a valuable heritage.
