Strolling in the old town of Rethymnon

The old town of Rethymnon is a monument of the last centuries, as despite the catastrophes it suffered during World War II, many Venetian and Turkish monuments were preserved, offering a unique diversity in its alleys.

The Venetian port of Rethymnon, with its picturesque fishing boats and fish taverns is an ideal stroll, overlooking the beautiful lighthouse.

Walking in the narrow alleys of the old city, the visitor will also meet a beautiful church, known as “Lady of Angels” .

The Historical and Folklore Museum is also located in the Old Town as well as the Church of “St. Francis”.

The famous “Kara Musa Pasha Mosque” is also preserved, and definitely worths a visit. Taverns with traditional music are also housed in the picturesque lanes of the area and above the old town stands the fort of Fortezza.
